Adam washing the floors today, being told I was the best teacher in the world, having gluten free english muffin pizza made for me by the FACS students, watching Joey dance, and going to bed early!

The short 3 weeks and four days of school until my Christmas vacation.

Today I am thankful for...

Joey's visit with Adam's family. He was able to play with his cousin Braelynn and visit with his Auntie Julie, Uncle Mark, Gramma and Grandpa, Aunt Leah, Uncle Bill, and cousins Derek, Lisa, Charlotte, and Ryann.

Today I am thankful for...

The patience I had to deal with a little girl that hit Joey 3 times during Kindermusik this morning. I didn't say anything to the girl (who is between 2 and 3 years old) or her mom even though all she said to her daughter was, "Say your sorry." Well, sorry worked the first time she swatted at his face, but when she wound up and hit him in the face with the tambourine, and then hit him on the head when he tried to go out the door that she had been running to all class, sorry didn't cut it anymore. If she was really sorry, I'm thinking she would have stopped. I don't have a child that age and I have never had a child that age, but I'm thinking that if Joey did that same thing to a child, I would remove him from the class for a few minutes and then try it again. If he hit her again, I would remove him from the class for the day.

Adam said that he would have said something to the mom. Well, I didn't have anything nice to say so I didn't say anything at all. I'm just hoping that this doesn't continue. If it does continue and mom still doesn't do anything, I may take him out of the class because I'm not going to deal with it for four weeks, which is unfortunate because Joey really loves the class and so do I.

Today I am thankful for...

Having four whole days to spend with my little family. This is the first time in a long time that we have all been together for this long. (I am also thankful for my new laptop, its webcam, and this not so cute photo of us :o) )

Today I am thankful for...

Being able to spend the day with my family. I am especially thankful that Joey was able to spend time with his great grandparents. Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I am thankful for...

The mess that I have to pick up every night. The mess means that Joey is a happy, healthy, and active kid, so let the mess making continue!

Today I am thankful for...

My new running shoes. I am not so thankful that they are pink, but when you find a pair of running shoes that work you stick with them no matter what. So for the six months I'll be rocking pink sneaks. My feet, knees, and hips will be comfy and thankful. I will just try not to look down too often!

My two day work week. I love that Monday and Friday are back-to-back this week!

Today I am thankful for...

Apple pie! That I can eat and that Adam describes as "outstanding!" (I do like to note that Adam would eat anything that you put in front of him so I don't always believe his taste buds!) The true test will be the gluten-free pecan pie at Thanksgiving.

Today I am thankful for...

Joey's friends. He has such a good time playing with all of them and I know that he is learning so much from them. He is making such great memories and I am so happy to be watching it happen!

The opportunity to take a breather from the hustle and bustle of a busy week and spend some quality time with my family and friends.

Gramma Connie's cook book. It was originally copyrighted in 1933 and this edition is from 1949. It always has the recipe that I am looking for and I love opening it up and seeing her handwritten recipes inside. I am so thankful that Adam's mother and uncle gave this to me. It is my favorite cook book!

My Planet Fitness membership and their 24/7 hours, which allows me to get my workout in without missing any time with Adam and Joey.

Today I am thankful for...

My realization that I should not be spending every waking moment of my day working. Spending time with my family is more important than correcting a pile of papers and a lot more enjoyable too. <3

Adam being on day shift this week. It is so nice to have help at home at night. Only three more weeks and he is back to days for awhile!

Today I am thankful for...

Family dinners. We try to eat as a family every night. On the menu tonight was spiral ham, mashed potatoes, and butternut squash. Yummy!

How much Joey likes to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This will definitely make lunch a lot easier.

This friendship. It was a little questionable in the beginning, but as soon as Molly figured out that Joey would be eating real food she was all about him. Today I am also thankful for all of our veterans, current service men and women, and their families.

My 3 day weekend with Joey! (Mimi is coming to visit too!)

How well Joey sleeps. Through teething, colds, growing, just about anything Joey sleeps through the night (10-12 hours) and takes at least 1 long nap a day, if not two. The first few months were rough with middle of the night feedings, but since May or June he has been sleeping through the night. I think there may have been 3 nights since then that he has needed to be taken out of his crib to console and for that I am truly thankful! (Hopefully I am not jinxing myself right now!) :o)

This letter that I received from a former student. This year has been very trying in more ways than I can count, and one day two weeks ago on a day when I was ready to walk out of the school forever this letter showed up in my mailbox. This letter is from a student who I taught two years ago who would not have go out of their way to write anything. It reminded exactly why I show up to work every day no matter how tired, overwhelmed, helpless and underpaid I feel. It has been said... if you reach just one kid, it makes it all worth it...and it's true...

Joey's 12 month wellness check and hearing that he is healthy and growing well. He is 31 inches long and weighs 23 pounds.

This beautiful weather! What a difference from last week's winter wonderland. Thank you fall for making a comeback!

My cord wood obsessed husband who puts hours of time into cutting down and chopping up trees so that we can stay warm in the winter.

My gluten free birthday cake that Adam bought me at a gluten free bakery in Plymouth. It tasted so good and it was great to finally eat good cake again! (He even gave it to me a day early because he knew I would enjoy it after a stressful week at work!)

Today I am thankful for...

Molly and Maggie drive me crazy on a daily basis, but they are great company when I am home alone. Molly never lets me be in a room alone and Maggie keeps me warm in the recliner and the bed. And as an added bonus, they are great helpers when it comes to cleaning up Joey's food messes!

Today I am thankful for...

Our wood stove (and my obsessive husband) for keeping our house (very) warm and our bank accounts a little less empty each winter.
