Fun with fireworks...
On Saturday night we watched the fireworks in Rangeley, Maine. We were standing across the lake from where the fireworks were set off. I brought my camera and a tripod along to take pics of the fireworks. All of the little lights in the water are the boaters watching the fireworks. Here are some of the better shots that I captured.

The summer reading list continues...
I've managed to read 3 more books this week. I have to say that I haven't walked away from any of the books thinking, "Wow, that was really good!" But they have been read and will be shared...here are books 4, 5, and 6.
4. Black Friday by James Patterson
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Friday-James-Patterson/dp/0446609323/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278024460&sr=8-1
I have come to enjoy James Patterson books basically because they are quick, mindless books to read. This book was very similar to most of the Patterson books that I have read. A major crime happens and there is a very good detective assigned to the case...this detective eventually falls for a woman who is also working on the case....and by the end the case is solved. The interested part of this plot was that the group of people involved in committing the crime were all Vietnam veterans who were very upset with how America had treated them. This book did not feature Alex Cross, who I enjoy as one of Patterson's main characters. It was not was favorite Patterson book, but if you are looking for a quick, mindless read then you might enjoy it.
5. Back Roads by Tawni O'Dell
http://www.amazon.com/Back-Roads-Tawni-ODell/dp/0451212452/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278024754&sr=1-1
This book was one of Oprah's Book Club choices (I have no clue when). I usually don't care for Oprah's book selections because the plots tend to be a bit too deep for my liking, but this book wasn't too bad. There are four kids living together and the 19 year old brother has legal guardianship for his three younger sisters because their mother is in jail for killing their father. As you read you find out that the father was abusive physically and sexually...and I will leave it at that. It is an interesting story, but there are some parts of the storyline that I had trouble with.
6. Pandora's Daughter by Iris Johansen
http://www.amazon.com/Pandoras-Daughter-Iris-Johansen/dp/B001C2E2D6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278025532&sr=1-1
In Pandora's Daughter the main characters have some sort of psychic ability and they join together to fight off one bad guy. For a much better summary you can look at the amazon link. I thought the different psychic abilities were very interesting and it makes me wonder how many people say they have the abilities in real life...
I have started on book 7 and I'm really hoping that one of these days I get a book that I just can't put down...All of the books I am reading now are books that have been sitting on the book shelves in my house and I figure it is about time they are read. Once those books are gone I will be purchasing books on my Kindle! I can't wait!
